I’m Back…

As if anyone missed me.

Anyway, it was a good holiday for yours truly.  Good food and good times with my wife’s family.

Plus, I got to take my first week off from work, since… well, I’ve never had a week off work.  It went by too fast.

My son was as sweet as could be, and he didn’t misbehave the entire time.  Must be some kind of record for a two-year-old.  He had fun seeing his Grandpa and Grandma and aunts and uncles.  It’s always funny to watch him when he sees Grandpa.  He (my son, not Grandpa) screams, cries and hides for about 30 minutes before he remembers who Grandpa is and that Grandpa isn’t going hurt him or his Mommy.

He also got to see his cousins, who were in town from Louisiana.  And, in one of my proudest nerd moments, he had lightsaber duels with his cousins.  He walked around smacking them with a purple Mace Windu lightsaber.  I couldn’t be more proud of my boy.

Mace Windu

Only a bad mutha f****r carries a purple lightsaber.

We also braved Wal-Mart on Black Friday.  In our hillbilly neck of the woods, the hunting and camo section was the busiest part of the store.  Not toys.  Not electronics.  The freaking camo section.  I didn’t fully realize how redneck my part of the world is, until I saw a majority of toothless country sifting through camo t-shirts and overalls as if  they were looking at clothes for church.  It was bizarre.  They were handling the camo like it was priceless art.  They would have wrecked the rest of the store with no thought, but the camo section?  No.  It must stay orderly.

Again, it was a good holiday all around.  I hope Christmas is this much fun.

And less redneck-y.
